In 1997 Cookra was formed by Richard Cook. Created as a funding project for his education at Plymouth College of Further education, PCAD (Plymouth College of Art & Design) and The University of Plymouth. During these years Cookra worked on various small projects for local trade in the Southwest. Concentrating mainly on Director and Flash based projects with occasional print design.

As part of his internship with The University of Plymouth Richard moved to London on a years placement with Empire Design. Situated on Queen Anne Street, Empire Design provided a unique and challenging year enabling Richard's experience of Director and in particular 'Lingo' (Directors scripting language) to become focused and client led. Projects included Viral Campaigns, CD-Rom publications, online gaming and print design. Working mainly for the film industry clients included Walt Disney, Buena Vista, PIXAR, Sony, Microsoft, EMI, Momentum Pictures, Icon Pictures and JVC. He produced media for Monsters Inc', The 51st State, Atlantis the Lost Empire, Spiderman the Movie and Enigma.

Richard stayed in London after leaving Empire and in short Cookra began to grow..

In 2001 Cookra moved back to Plymouth. Clients by this time included The Podia Group Plc, Camper & Nicholson's Yachting, Nevica, Killysport, Bicton College and NWM Brand Development.

The company up until this point was run solely by Richard and in 2002 he introduced the Freelance network and created a new staff structure for the Company as a result Cookra has over 30 creatives all over the world that specialise in print, online / offline production, E-Commerce, Security and much more.

Cookra is run as a personal business. With the introduction of new project management software and information sharing technologies Cookra has a proven design ethos, which places it in the forefront of today's new-media design companies.

Cookra has become more than a design company. Offering hosting, print and web design, training and project management. The company has recently moved to Newquay in Cornwall placing it in the heart of an un-tapped geographical area.

With the introduction of new technologies the company has gone from strength to strength. Our custom built systems enable us to provide our clients with the very latest applications and products they need in today's media age. With this in mind we believe that anything is possible and as always we never over promise or under deliver..
